The area along West Broadway, from 36th Street to 15th Street, is a bustling center of activity for local residents, businesses, and commuters. This corridor serves as a connection between adjacent neighborhoods, downtown Omaha, and downtown Council Bluffs. To maintain Council Bluffs as a desirable place to live, work and play, improvements must be made to the West Broadway corridor, including:
During the planning phase of the Project, the City of Council Bluffs performed an efficient, but thorough, environmental and traffic analysis. Analysis received from the planning phase helped to determine the constructability, cost and schedule for the phased construction. Construction on Segment 1 (36th Street to 33rd Street) is scheduled to begin in spring 2017.
Would you like to improve the look of your property and join the City in beautifying the corridor? If so, there may be funding available to help you! The City of Council Bluffs is working to develop a “West Broadway Landscaping Assistance Program,” that can provide 50 percent of the construction cost for eligible private landscape improvements that front West Broadway.
The West Broadway Corridor Master Plan, approved by the City Council in October 2016 and amended in March 2017, is the result of a planning process conducted by the design team on a combination of improvements that satisfy Project design goals and objectives. Proposed enhancements will improve traffic and pedestrian safety, as well as the appearance and function of the corridor.
The Corridor Master Plan is NOT:
- Final design
- A finished and detailed drawing for construction
- Fully funded
